Lymph
Colorless fluid
Formed from tissue fluid (leaked plasma)
Consists of plasma and lymphocytes
Contains no red blood cells
The lymphatic system
A one way system that consists of lymph vessels and lymph nodes (glands)
Vessels have valves to prevent the back flow of lymph

Functions of the lymphatic system
Transport:
It collects tissue fluid and returns it to blood
Lacteals in the villi absorb lipids which are transported to the blood
Defense against disease:
Nodes filter plasma, removing pathogens
Nodes produce lymphocytes (B and T cells)
